Although Joanne and her husband, Robert McDevitt, never had children of their own, they were deeply engaged with their extended family and friends. A dedicated Chicago Public School teacher for 28 years, Joanne’s lifelong love of learning culminated in a legacy gift to the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.

Drue Lehmann could be described in many ways: a speech-language pathologist, professor, dedicated Catholic, one of five sisters, loyal friend, symphony lover, Ohio State Buckeye fan. But growing up on a 1,200-acre farm in Pickaway County, Ohio, is perhaps what shaped her life the most. Drue named the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur as a beneficiary of her IRA accounts and left a portion of her estate.

In 1922, Mabel Howatt emigrated to the United States from Batroun, Lebanon with her family at just seven years old. She lived a long life of gratitude and simplicity in Cincinnati, treasuring her faith and community, and remembered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur with a substantial gift from her estate.
